- Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. (John 18:37-38)
This question was asked by Pilate as he examined Jesus to determine if he was guilty of any crime worthy of death. Unfortunately, Pilate already knew the answer:
- And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. (Matthew 27:16-18)
- Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man? They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: (John 18:29-31)
Isn’t it amazing how a group of self-righteous religious people, who should be at the highest point on the ladder of morality, could conspire to kill the only innocent man that ever walked this earth? Jesus never sinned and never broke any of man’s laws, yet now the very ones who should lead society in morality are now the ones who are attempting murder and will succeed. What a paradox!
Have you ever heard the statement all truths are relative. This means truth is subject to change as the whim of man changes. One day it is perversion, and after a few years, it becomes normal behavior. I tend to disagree with the former statement. Any truth that proceeds from the mouth of mankind is definitely relative, for man can change as the wind changes direction. This is why their truths are always relative. I, however, believe in absolute truth. It can be found in the pages of the Bible, which “holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21). In other words, it was written by men that were inspired by a God that never changes and cannot lie because it is not in his nature.
Our society has lost its footing and has become seriously unstable. Perhaps if they had something to stand on that does not change, we could restore our society to its previous state and get back to being the greatest nation on earth. Perhaps if our politicians would put down “Politics for dummies” and read the Bible as our forefathers did, our government could be more effective instead of dragging us down into the destruction they are creating for themselves. Perhaps? What do you think? I choose what Jesus said:
- Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:24-27)
